Heather Leigh
Back Idell
June 22, 1969 – April 25, 2022
The deeply loved Heather Leigh Back Idell is now pain free after losing a long and hard-fought battle against cancer. She passed away on April 25,2022 surrounded by loved ones, including the love of her life and partner John Scott of Telford, Pennsylvania.
She was born to her surviving parents, Edward Darrell and Sandra Back on June 22, 1969, in San Francisco, California. Her father, a career Navy serviceman, led to the family moving to live in places like Guam, Oklahoma, Virginia, and eventually settling in Telford. Heather is also survived by her beloved children, Venus, and Jamie Idell, whom she devoted her life to, and her brother, Bryan. Heather, a literary artist, attended the University of Pennsylvania and spent a semester abroad at Oxford University in England. She embraced her exceptional writing talents working in marketing, co-authoring a book, and sharing her sense of humor and quick wit in her blogs on daily life events. To best understand Heather's wonderfully unique personality, read her works of art on her website at www.heatheridell.com .
While Heather was a master of the English language, she was also fervent about all things British. She was an avid Anglophile, who immersed herself in the culture of her ancestors. John embraced Heather's passion for all things British. They were able to visit the U.K. in 2017 where Heather and John spent the best trip of their lifetimes visiting small villages in the Cotswolds in south-central England and Cornwall and the Cornish Coast. They were hoping to relive the beautiful memories they made there by visiting the area again this summer, before Heather became so ill.
Heather was passionate about defending against injustices. She was a supporter of diversity, equality, inclusion, and LGBTQ rights. She was a resilient figure in the face of adversity and a person who provided exemplary effort.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Heather, especially those spent with John and her children. She had an uncanny ability to find happiness in her daily activities. She was an exceptional baker and she and John enjoyed hosting friends and dining out.
Her kindness and deep compassion for others was contagious to everyone she met. Heather was so special. She represented the good that we all need every day in our lives. Even when ill, Heather was never angry and kept a positive spirit. She said she loved her life and would not have changed a thing, other than defeating cancer.
Heather touched the lives of so many people in such a short amount of time, despite her untimely passing. She so appreciated the love of her adoring soulmate John, and her family and friends for their unconditional support and unwavering devotion. She felt she was abundantly blessed.
Her love of life will not come to an end at her death. Heather's loved one's vow to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest. Rest in peace our true angel. You will be forever loved and forever remembered.
A Celebration of Life Service for Heather will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at St. Andrew's United Church of Christ at 615 Walnut Street, Perkasie, PA. Visitation will be at 10 am. Services will begin at 11 am, followed by a luncheon.
