Harold "Hal" Caplan, formerly of Perkasie, PA, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023 at LifeQuest Nursing Center, Quakertown, PA.  He was 87.

Born in South Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Michael and Ida (Borish) Caplan.  He was a 1954 graduate of West Philadelphia High School.  Hal loved growing up in South Philadelphia where you would find him playing basketball and hanging out with his cousin Sam.  They were inseparable.

Hal worked as a Purchasing Buyer for Honeywell Inc., Ft. Washington, PA for 40 years, retiring in 1999.

He loved sports, especially the game of basketball.  He was a PIAA referee having refereed basketball games for over 15 years. He also umpired baseball games.  He was a Philadelphia sports fanatic.  In his spare time, he enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle, watching movies and he read the newspaper cover to cover every day.

Hal's family meant the world to him and he is survived by four children, Michael Caplan and his wife Catherine, of Eagleville, PA, Liela Rushton, of Philadelphia, Andrea Dunning and her husband Garrett, of Perkasie and Valerie Schulz and her husband Paul, of Perkasie and 14 grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Toland in 2012 and a sister, Jean Cohen.

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at the Suess-Gahman Funeral Home, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, PA, where family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.  Interment will follow in St. Andrew's Union Cemetery, Perkasie, PA.
