Gladys E. Barndt, formerly of Perkasie and Sellersville, PA, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 in Lifequest Nursing Center, Quakertown, PA. She was 90.
Born in Perkasie, she was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Marian E. (Benfield) Barndt. She was a 1950 graduate of Sell-Perk High School.
After her graduation from high school, Gladys worked for the Perkasie Trust Company as the secretary to William High. She then moved to Bucks County Bank, Chestnut St. branch, (later becoming CoreStates Bank and then Wachovia) where she worked until her retirement in 1995.
She was a lifetime member of St. Andrew's United Church of Christ, Perkasie, where she taught Sunday school for over 50 years, sang in the choir, was in the bell choir and served on the finance committee.
Gladys volunteered in the Grand View Hospital Gift Shop for over 20 years. She was a member of the Perkasie Historical Society and the former Business and Professional Women's Club of Perkasie. She enjoyed cross stitch, knitting, cooking, baking, deep sea fishing and trips to Ocean City, New Jersey. Most of all, she loved spending time and caring for her family.
She is survived by a brother, Kenneth L. Barndt and his wife Joyce, of Perkasie, PA; a brother-in-law, George Gilbert, of Sellersville; three nephews, G. Christopher Gilbert, of Perkasie, PA, Cary C. Gilbert, of Port St. Lucie, FL and Andrew K. Barndt, of Sellersville, PA; a niece, Jennifer G. Flexer and her husband Raymond, of Perkasie, PA; seven great nieces and nephews, Carrie, Marcus, Christopher, Erin, Daniel, Elizabeth and Morgan and six great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley M. Gilbert and a brother, C. Eugene Barndt.
Funeral services will be held on at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 24, 2023 in St. Andrew's United Church of Christ, 615 E. Walnut St., Perkasie, PA, where family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Huff's Union Church Cemetery, Huffs Church, PA.
Memorial contributions may be made in Gladys's memory to St. Andrew's U.C.C., P.O. Box 69, Perkasie, PA 18944.
