Geraldine O'Connell, of Perkasie, PA, and formerly of South Weymouth, MA, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at Harborview Rehabilitation & Care Center, Lansdale, PA. She was 80.
She was the loving wife of Lawrence M. O'Connell. The couple would have celebrated their 58 th Wedding Anniversary on September 26, 2022.
Born in Souderton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Valentine A. and Mary (Fretz) Rickert.
A 1959 graduate of Souderton High School, Souderton, PA, she attained her Certificate in Bookkeeping and Secretarial Science from the Peirce Business College, Philadelphia, PA.
Mrs. O'Connell was employed part-time as a bookkeeper and volunteer for the Indian Valley Library, Telford, PA, for 10 years until retiring. Previously, she worked for Generations of Indian Valley, Souderton, PA, in bookkeeping and with their Meals on Wheels Program, for five years.
She was a member of Faith Church, Sellersville, PA.
An avid reader, Mrs. O'Connell loved playing games and cards as well as solving puzzles. She especially enjoyed playing bingo at Generations.
Surviving with her husband are four children, Keith Alan O'Connell, of Perkasie, Sean M. O'Connell, of Franconia, PA, Ryan Patrick O'Connell and his wife Catie, of Dacula, GA, and Jennifer Lynn O'Connell, also of Dacula; five grandchildren, Danielle and Kyle O'Connell, Emma and Abby O'Connell, and Joseph O'Connell; and a brother, Richard Rickert, of Hilltown Township, PA. She was preceded in death by a son, Colin Matthew O'Connell, in 2012, and a brother, Glenn Rickert, who was killed during the Vietnam War in 1972.
Her Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at the Suess-Gahman Funeral Home, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, PA, where family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.
