Gerald G.
"Pineapple" Graver
December 4, 1946 – September 5, 2024
Gerald G. "Pineapple" Graver, of Perkasie, PA passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at the Laurel Center, Hamburg, PA. He was 77.
Born in Sellersville, PA, he was the son of the late Calvin H. and Helen (White) Graver. He was a 1965 graduate of Pennridge High School.
A U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, Jerry served from 1966 to 1969, serving in Vietnam for over two years, earning a bronze Star. Like so many other Veterans, Jerry returned home carrying the scars of war.
He went to work for Heston S. Swartley Gas Stations, working at several locations over the years. During the 1980's, he became the station manager at the Green Lane location.
As time went on, Jerry's PTSD began to make life difficult for him but with the help of his family and friends, he eventually worked his way through it and found stability living in Perkasie. He started helping at the Pennridge Chamber of Commerce, mowing the lawn, doing general maintenance, snow removal and sending out mailings. He loved the Christmas season, going around to area businesses collecting their donations for the chamber events. He also began to do yard work and snow removal for the Suess Funeral Home. Jerry enjoyed helping anyone who needed assistance.
An avid sports fan, he loved to follow and attend Pennridge High School sporting events, traveling to wherever a team was playing. He was a big fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies Baseball. He also liked horse racing, playing the lottery, taking long walks and taking care of his cats.
He is survived by two daughters, Katina McLaughlin and her husband Paul, of Stevens, PA and Maria Sweigart and her husband Shawn, of Denver, PA; three grandchildren, Brittany Cobb, Ashton Sweigart and Amelia Sweigart; a brother, Ronald Graver and his wife Betty, of Weatherly, PA; his companion, Nancy Norris, of Perkasie, PA and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Froehlich.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at the Suess-Gahman Funeral Home, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, PA. Interment with full Military Honors will follow in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Prospectville, PA.
