Obituary

Gary R. Bearns, of Sellersville, PA, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Grand View Health, Sellersville, PA.  He was 69.

He was the loving husband of Anne Marie (Litsch) Bearns.  The couple had celebrated their 44th Wedding Anniversary on July 26, 2024.

Born in Sellersville, PA, he was the son of the late Robert William Bearns and the late Eleanor (Miller) Batman.  He was a 1974 graduate of Pennridge High School, Perkasie, PA.

Gary was a proud U. S. Navy Veteran, stationed on the U.S.S. Knox, the U.S.S. Mt. Vernon, and the U.S.S. Basuell during his enlistment from 1975 until his honorable discharge in 1979.

In his early years, he worked as a heating and air conditioning service technician for Neshaminy Mechanical and, after that, for S & S Mechanical, both in Doylestown, PA.  Then, he was employed as a licensed driver delivering fuel oil and propane for Farm & Home Oil which merged into Inenergy and most recently merged into Suburban Propane, Telford, PA, where he presently was working, for a combined 25+ years.

Gary was a member of the Wallace-Willard-Keller American Legion Post No. 242, and the Paletown Rod & Gun Club, both in Quakertown, PA.  Over the years, he was active as an Assistant Boy Scout Leader, member of the Venture Crew No. 185, and he served for a number of years as the Bucks County Boy Scout Commissioner.

An avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed boating and was known to be a great handyman.  A motorcycle enthusiast, Gary loved working on his 1967 Ford Ranchero, his Chevy Nova and his 1958 Chevy truck.

Surviving with his wife are a son, Nicholas Edward Bearns, of Montgomeryville, PA; a brother, Robert Bearns, of Quakertown; and two sisters, Lori Bickel and her husband Larry, of Coopersburg, PA, and Sherry Mehring and her husband Walter, of Coopersburg.

His Memorial Services will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, April 11, 2025, at the Suess-Gahman Funeral Home & Crematory, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, PA, where family and friends may call from 3:00 to 4:00 PM.
