Obituary

Frederick "Fred" Martin, of Quakertown, PA, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2023, at St. Luke's Brian D. Perin Hospice House, Bethlehem, PA.  He was 87.

He was the husband of Ruby (Moyzan) Martin for 60 years until his passing.

Born in East Rockhill Twp., PA, he was the son of the late George Frank Martin and the late Catherine (Wenhold) Martin Hersh.

A 1953 graduate of Quakertown High School, Fred assisted with his Class Reunions over the years.

Fred served proudly with the United States Marine Corps from January 3, 1957 until his honorable discharge on January 2, 1960.

Prior to his service with the Marines, Fred worked for the former Chevron Gas Station, Quakertown.  Following his service, he began his career in textiles with the former Best Made Hosiery Co., Quakertown, and then the former Stowe Hosiery Co., Stowe, PA, before his employment with the former Spinlon Industries, Quakertown, where he worked from 1966 to 1977.  He co-developed and co-designed a hosiery machine which doubled production for the company. From 1977 to 1982, he worked for AMETEK Inc., U. S. Gauge Division, Sellersville, PA.  He was employed by Moore Business Forms, Inc., Quakertown, from 1982 until retiring there in June 1994.  Following his retirement from Moore, he worked part-time for the Quakertown Community School District, Karen's Furniture, and then Walmart, all in Quakertown, until retiring in 2006.

A member of the Loyal Order of the Moose No. 1539, Sellersville, PA, he was a life member of the North Penn Rod & Gun Club, Quakertown.  Fred enjoyed working with wood, making gifts for special occasions as well as furniture. He also was fond of creating ceramic pieces including beer steins and working on home building projects in addition to riding his Can-Am motorcycle.

Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Rachel E. Sufka and her husband Michael, of Indiana, PA, and Michele L. Martin, of Denison, TX; and three grandchildren, Hayden, Jaxson and Skye.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Kenneth Martin, and a sister, Nancy Cate.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are by the Suess-Gahman Funeral Home, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, PA.
