W. Koehler
November 3, 1932 – April 5, 2023
Fred W. "Fritz" Koehler, of Perkasie, PA, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia, PA. He was 90.
He was the loving husband of the late Joyce (Eshelman) Koehler until her passing on June 6, 2016.
Born in Towamensing Twp., Carbon Co., PA, he was the son of the late Frank and Arline (Beltzner) Koehler. He was a 1950 graduate of Souderton Area High School, Souderton, PA, where he played football and in the marching band.
Fritz enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps in 1950. He served two tours in Korea and two tours in Vietnam. In 1967, he was field commissioned to 2 nd Lieutenant and retired in 1977 as a Captain.
Following his discharge from the Marines, he owned and operated Koehler's Auto Beauticians, Perkasie, detailing automobiles. During that time, he also worked in maintenance for The Perk Restaurant, Perkasie, for 28 years until 1992.
A member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Sellersville, PA, Fritz was a former member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Telford, PA, where he served as a Deacon and Usher.
He was a 68-year member of the Loyal Order of Moose No. 1539, Sellersville, having served the organization as a Senior Pilgrim and six terms as Governor. He also was a member of the Legion of the Moose.
An occasional hunter, Fritz was a member of the Telford V.F.W. Post No. 5308, Telford, as well as the Souderton American Legion Post No. 234. At the time of the 50 th Anniversary of the Korean War, he, along with his brother, Allen, revisited Korea.
He is survived by four children, Paul S. Koehler and his wife Debra, of Sellersville, Teresa K. Musselman and her partner Denis Simcox, of Franconia Twp., PA, Thomas J. Koehler and his wife Gina, of Perkasie, and Dorothy K. Mask, of Sellersville; seven grandchildren, Andria Knechel and her husband Galen, Brianna Link and her husband Jeremiah, Cameron Koehler and his wife Kelli, Jonathan Musselman, Rachael Fernandez and her husband Nick, Petty Officer 1st Class Gregory Koehler, USN and his wife Mia, and Army Specialist Jeremy Mask; nine great-grandchildren, Surrey, Knox and Sailor Link, Felicity and Madeline Knechel, Camden Koehler, Maxwell and Ellie Fernandez, and Selina Koehler; and a brother, Allen M. Koehler, of Lansdale, PA.
Along with his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan T. Mask, in 2008, three brothers, Charles, Frank and Paul Koehler, and a sister, Charlotte Mengel.
Family and friends may call either Friday evening, April 14, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM or Saturday morning, April 15, 2023, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 104 Green Street Sellersville.
Family and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Services to be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at the Church.
Interment will follow the Funeral Service in Trinity Cemetery of Telford, Telford.
