Smith, Jr.
July 18, 1941 – February 5, 2026
Franklin B. "Frank" Smith, Jr., of Perkasie, PA, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2026, at St. Luke's Hospital – Grand View Campus, Sellersville, PA. He was 84.
Born in Ambler, PA, he was the son of the late Franklin B. Sr. and Catherine A. (Lapradd) Smith. He was a 1959 graduate of Ambler High School, Ambler, PA.
Frank was a proud U. S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, serving as a bookkeeper from 1964 until his honorable discharge in 1966.
Following his service in the Army, he worked for his uncle as a bookkeeper in his business, Lesher's 5 and 10 Store, Perkasie, PA, eventually owning and operating the store known as the Perkasie Variety Store until his retirement.
An avid reader, he enjoyed cross stitch and tending to his gardens. A talented cook and baker, Frank loved spending time in the kitchen canning fruits and vegetables. He especially enjoyed trips to Disney World, as well as collecting Disney memorabilia and coins. In his free time, he could be found porch sitting in his rocker, watching the squirrels and people passing by.
He is survived by his close friends, Angela and Jason Trotter and their family Jacob, Julia, Abigail and Sarah, all of Perkasie and three nieces, Karen Brosious, of New Britain, PA, Kathryn Schwartz and Nancy Becker, both of Horsham, PA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Carl Smith, a sister, Margaret A. Becker and his companion, Beverly Lynn Smith.
His Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 28, 2026 in St. Stephen's United Church of Christ Cemetery, 1011 W. Market Street, Perkasie, PA. A Celebration of Life will follow from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Perkasie Fire House, 100 N. 5th Street, Perkasie, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Perkasie Fire Company, P. O. Box 203, Perkasie, PA 18944.
Arrangements are by the Suess-Gahman Funeral Home & Crematory, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie.
