Obituary

Evelyn "Evie" May Snyder Ziemons passed away on Friday, June 23, 2023. She entered into spirit quietly in her home in Quakertown, PA; just "Evie and the girls." She was 91.

Born on October 22, 1931 in Montgomery County, PA, Evelyn was the daughter of the late J. Clyde & Margaret M. (Knecht) Snyder.

She was a 1949 graduate of Sell-Perk High School, "the 49ers", Perkasie, PA where she was a majorette and played on the softball team. Evelyn spent a lot of time with friends, going to the shore and roller skating. Later she attained her cosmetology license from Allentown School of Cosmetology.

A hair stylist for 50 years, Evelyn was the owner/operator of Evelyn Ziemons Beauty Salon, Dublin PA until her retirement in 1993. She had many loyal customers that followed her from the early days in Doylestown and Buckingham and throughout her career, to her own shop in Dublin.

She was a devoted member of St. Andrew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perkasie, PA.

Evelyn was a single mother that devoted her entire life to her family of three daughters, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was a gracious lady in every sense of the word that lived her life with love, strength and integrity. She was a kind, hard-working, beautiful soul who was always selfless and generous of the heart.

She always enjoyed shopping, trips to Lancaster, the casinos and many family vacations to their house in the Poconos. Evelyn liked birds, gardening, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and she always loved a sweet treat. Several pretty dishes full of candy "for the kids" would always be found around the house. She loved to decorate her home with a Victorian flair, which was transformed for every changing season and holiday, featuring her large collections of glassware, figurines, dolls and snow babies. She had great fashion sense and was always impeccably dressed in the latest style, completing each look with the perfect pieces of jewelry. Most recently Evelyn enjoyed reuniting with classmates at their monthly breakfast gatherings.

She is survived by two daughters, Sharon McConnell and her husband Thomas, of Quakertown, PA and Donna Ziemons-McGinn of Pequea, PA; three grandchildren, Joshua Morris and his wife Jennifer, Stosh McConnell, and Brock McConnell and his companion Heather; three great-grandchildren, Jameson, Adrianna and George; a brother Nelson Snyder of Florida; and two sisters, Doris Roshon, of Quakertown, PA and Virginia "Ginny" Moyer of Quakertown, PA.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Farmer; seven brothers, Charles, Marvin, Clyde, William, Edward, Louis and Frank Snyder; five sisters, Dorothy Snyder, Florence Evans, Grace Kulp, Mary Void, and Ann Beer; and a brother in infancy.

Her Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at St. Andrew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 20 Dill Avenue, Perkasie, PA 18944, where family and friends may call from 9:30 to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in St. Andrew's Union Cemetery, 615 E. Walnut Street, Perkasie, PA 18944.
