Obituary

Eugene L. Pritchard, Jr., formerly of Quakertown and Perkasie, PA, and Brooksville, FL, passed away Monday, September 18, 2023, at Hidden Meadows on the Ridge, West Rockhill Twp., PA.  He was 84.

He was the loving husband of Barbara E. (Sensinger) Pritchard.  The couple had celebrated their 64th Wedding Anniversary on November 8, 2022.

Born in Sellersville, PA, he was the son of the late Eugene L. Sr. and Clara R. "Dolly" (Miller) Pritchard.  A 1957 graduate of Pennridge High School, Perkasie, he graduated from the Lansdale School of Business, Lansdale, PA, as well as the Bethlehem Business School, Bethlehem, PA.

He served with the U. S. Army Reserves from 1962 to 1968 and the Army National Guard.

Mr. Pritchard owned and operated the former Lesher's 5 & 10, Perkasie from 1984 until 2000.  After selling the business, he worked as an Assistant Manager for Freeman Jewelers, Phillipsburg, NJ, from 2000 to 2008, and then served as the Activities Director for Independence Court of Quakertown, from 2008 until 2014.

While residing in Brooksville, FL, he worked as a mattress salesman for two years before selling mattresses for Mattress Firm in Pennsylvania as well as Florida for five years eventually retiring in 2020.  In earlier years, he was the Officer Manager for Schoeller's Appliances, Perkasie, from 1962 to 1984.

He was a former member of the former Evangelical United Brethren Church later known as the former First United Methodist Church, Perkasie, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent for 35 years. While residing in Florida, he attended Spring Hill Baptist Church, Spring Hill, FL. He currently was attending the Bible Baptist Church, Sellersville.

Mr. Pritchard was active in the Pennridge Community, having served on the Perkasie Borough Council from 1995 to 2000.  He was a member of the Highland Park Camp Meeting Association, where he along with his wife owned a cottage for over 40 years, serving as its Vice President for over eight years and chaired the Yearbook Committee for 53 years.

His hobbies included gospel magic, ventriloquism, and Lionel model trains (for which he also was a distributor) that he shared at various events throughout the years. He also enjoyed photography, chess and desktop publishing.  A sports enthusiast, he played volleyball in high school and while serving in the Army, and he played softball in the local Church Softball League for 16 years.  He also sponsored Scout groups as well as Pennridge Little League teams, which he also coached, over the years.

Surviving with his wife are three children, Jodie L. Kelly and her husband Samuel, of Quakertown, PA, Steven D. Pritchard and his wife Lisa, of Savannah, GA, and Nicole L. Myers and her husband Edward, of Perkasie; six grandchildren, Jessica Cintron and her husband Adan, Alyssa Witt and her husband Daniel, Robbie Slye and his wife Patricia, Matthew Pritchard, Zachary Myers and his wife Hailey, and Nicholas Myers and his wife Leah; eight great-grandchildren, Aidan, Carsen, Grayson, Colton, Elijah, Lillianna, Brighton and Kayden; and three sisters, Nancy Lee Schroeder and her husband Roger D., of Newnan, GA, Merrie Jane Willis and her husband Donald R., of Foxboro, MA, and Deborah Anne Reimel and her husband Charles T., of Pottstown, PA.

His Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at the Tabernacle at Highland Park Campmeeting, 415 Highland Park Road, Sellersville, PA, where the family will greet family and friends and share in luncheon at the Dining Hall following the service.

Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in South Perkasie Evangelical Cemetery, Perkasie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Highland Park Campmeeting Association, 415 Highland Park Road, Sellersville, PA  18960.
