Esther A. Fox, formerly of Quakertown, PA, and Venice, FL, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at the Lutheran Community at Telford, Telford, PA. She was 92.
She was the loving wife of the late James F. Fox until his passing on December 26, 2014.
Born in Trumbauersville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Bertha (Ackerman) Bortz. A 1950 graduate of Quakertown High School, Quakertown, she attained her Bachelor's Degree in Education during the early 1970's as well as her Master's Degree from the Kutztown State Teachers College (now University), Kutztown, PA.
Mrs. Fox was employed as a Fourth Grade Teacher in the Quakertown Community School District for a majority of her 25-year career at the Richland Elementary School, Quakertown, until retiring in 1995.
She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Venice, FL, and a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Quakertown.
While residing in Venice, Mrs. Fox volunteered for many years with the city's Community Assistance Food Pantry. More recently, she volunteered with the Care & Share Thrift Shoppes, Souderton, PA. A knitting enthusiast, she also enjoyed collecting and selling antiques. But most of all, her greatest joy was found in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Judith Linberger and her husband Dennis, of Souderton, PA, and Suzanne Kantner and her husband Charles, of Rochester, MA; a son-in-law, Steven Hunter; six grandchildren, Alyssa Keebler and her husband David, Stephanie Brecht and her husband Steven, Nathan Linberger and his wife Katie, Travis Linberger and his wife Kathleen, Angela Blandon and her husband Fransico, and Julia Doherty and her husband Sean; 12 great-grandchildren, Avery, Sophie, Breckin, Hailey, Kevin, Caleb, Sadie, Ben, Ryan, Addie, Zuri and Rowan; and a sister, Pauline Mucha.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy Hunter, in 2018, and a sister, Mildred Fluck.
Her Memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 12, 2025 in the Chapel at the Lutheran Community at Telford, 12 Lutheran Home Drive, Telford, PA, where family and friends may call from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. Refreshments will follow the service. Interment will be held privately in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.
