Obituary

Eric Wesley Hein, 36, of Harleysville, PA, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday morning, May 24th, 2025, surrounded by family.

Eric was born on January 9, 1989, and was a 2007 graduate of Souderton Area High School. He attended Seminole State College in Sanford, FL, majoring in Creative Writing. His employment history included Blue Street BBQ in Harleysville, PA, and Pitney Bowes in West Point, PA, in the mailing and shipping department.

Eric will be tremendously missed and forever remembered by many, including his father, Wesley A. Hein (Anita M. King); his mother, Marjorie J. Bruno (Robert W. Bruno); his fiancé and love of his life, Justine Mann (recently engaged after five years); his step siblings, Peyton DeSanta, Patrick DeSanta, Kimberly Johnson, Kristopher Bruno, his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, second cousins, and numerous friends and acquaintances who had gotten to know Eric over the years.

One of Eric's proudest accomplishments was being a published poet - with an early poem included in a book of poetry - "Timeless Voices". Later he went on to publish his very own poetry book - "Gleanings from a Dreamland".

Eric's passion for creative writing began at the age of seven years old.

While his ultimate dream was publishing a fiction novel series, he loved writing thought-provoking, deep, and heartfelt poetry in his spare time. His gift of writing also included numerous unpublished rap songs and interesting short stories which were still in the works. Eric expressed his desire to family members in his last days to carry on his legacy as a creative writer by publishing his finished works. Reading was also a true passion and a favorite pastime of Eric's. His collection of Stephen King books and other well-known authors could fill a small library.

Eric was also an avid movie buff, with favorites such as Back to the Future, Lord of the Rings, and Star Wars, just to name a few. Eric would naturally memorize lines from movies, sit-coms and shows, and make references to these in daily conversations.

Eric had a love for the conservation and protection of manatees, and has collected numerous figurines, posters, stuffed animals, and even swam with manatees in Florida.

Diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at two years old, Eric struggled through numerous hospitalizations as well as a life-saving double-lung transplant in 2016. Despite the many medical issues he had endured, he remained kind- hearted, helpful, and positive, with a fabulous sense of humor. He deeply appreciated anyone who did even the smallest things or gestures to help him and never took one day or one person for granted.

Family and friends are invited to attend Eric's Celebration of Life on Sunday, June 8th, 2025, at Penn Valley Church, 320 North 3rd Street, Telford, PA., 18969. Visitation will begin at 2:30 PM, service at 3:30, followed by food and fellowship.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Eric's name to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (cff.org) or Dream Come True (dreamcometrue.org).
