Obituary

Elizabeth W "Betty" Dewey, 96, of Earlington, Pennsylvania, passed away surrounded by loved ones on March 16, 2024.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Master Sgt. Russell Owen Dewey who passed away in 1971 while serving in Japan.  He also served in the Korean War.

Born January 3, 1928, Betty was a daughter of the late Elmer L and Elizabeth S (Walter) Benner.

Betty graduated from Souderton High School and after years of traveling around the world as an Army wife, went on to work as a Sales Clerk for over 23 years at Woolco and Woolworth's.

She is best known among her friends and family as a dabbler in the arts and an unpublished writer of stuff and nonsense.  Her motto was "A clean house is the sign of a wasted life."

Over the years, many of her best loved friends were of the feline variety, including Tom, Matilda, Squirt, Gremlin, Junior, Sophie, Beanie Baby, Kevin, and Stevie.

Betty is survived by her four children: Linda A Moskal and her husband Joseph of Quakertown, PA; Laurence A Dewey of Port Townsend, WA; Leslie A Gore and her husband Patrick of Earlington, PA; and Lois A Dewey and her husband Paul Bower of Cumming, GA.; grandchildren David Dewey, Matthew Dewey, Patrick Gore, Veronica Gore, Christopher Gore, Sean Gore, Cynthia Bower and Jennifer Ransom; and nine great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sister Gloria Krapf of Chalfont, PA, and her brother Joseph Benner of Barre, VT.  She was preceded in death by her brothers Elmer and Donald Benner.

According to Betty, "she will be sadly missed by a few steadfast friends, while other family members and acquaintances will have long grown tired of waiting for her to leave this Earth".

Services are scheduled for March 23, 2024 at 11:00AM at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.  107 W. Lincoln Avenue.  Telford, PA 18969.  A viewing will be held prior to the service from 10-11.  Immediately after the service, interment will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Telford, PA.
