Doris E. Myers, formerly of Plumstead Twp., West Chester and Perkasie, PA, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at the Lutheran Community at Telford, Telford, PA. She was 99.
Born in Plumstead Twp., she was the daughter of the late O. Arthur and Hazel E. (Furness) Myers. She was a 1943 graduate of Doylestown High School, Doylestown, PA.
Miss Myers was employed as a bookkeeper and payroll clerk by Niessen, Dunlap & Pritchard, Colmar, PA, from 1979, when she moved back to Bucks County, until retiring in 1992. Previously, beginning in 1957 while residing in West Chester, she worked for the Burroughs Corporation, Paoli, PA, and later the Davey Co., Downingtown, PA. Her first employment was in the office at Doylestown Hospital, Doylestown, PA.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Sellersville, PA, since moving to Perkasie. While residing in West Chester, she became a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, West Chester. Earlier, she was a member of Upper Tinicum Lutheran Church, Upper Black Eddy, PA, where she directed the Children's Choir. She always sang in the choir of the church she was attending.
Miss Myers was a member of the Plumsteadville Grange, Pipersville, PA, where she sang with the Grange Quartet. In addition to her love for music and playing the piano, she enjoyed sewing as well as vegetable and flower gardening. Having a fondness for playing cards, she was a member of a card club since 1944.
She is survived by three nephews, Terry Groff and his wife Betsy, of Franconia, PA, Tim Groff and his wife Lori, of Harleysville, PA, and Kent Groff and his wife Linda, of Quakertown, PA; a niece, Kay Freed and her husband Jay, of Perkasie, PA; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by a sister, Verna E. Groff and her husband Theodore.
Her Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 104 Green Street, Sellersville, PA, where family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in the Upper Tinicum Cemetery, Upper Black Eddy, PA.
