Stubbs
April 9, 1933 – June 26, 2025
Dr. Donald R. Stubbs, formerly of Sellersville, PA, passed away Thursday, June, 26, 2025, at Souderton Mennonite Homes, Souderton, PA. He was 92.
He was the loving husband of 62 years of the late Clara J. (Prebula) Stubbs until her passing on May 8, 2017.
Born in White Haven, PA, he was the son of the late Paul and Lula (Shemo) Stubbs. Following his graduation from White Haven High School in 1951, he went on to attain his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Bloomsburg University, Bloomsburg, PA, and later his Master's Degree from Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA, before earning his Ph.D. from Nova University in Florida.
He was a proud U. S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War.
Dr. Stubbs began his career with the Pennridge School District, Perkasie, PA, first as a teacher before serving as the District's Business Manager for a combined 35 years until his retirement.
He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville, PA.
Dr. Stubbs loved sailing, particularly on his sailboat on Lake Nockamixon. He was an avid golfer, a sport he enjoyed until the age of 90. In his free time, he was fond of woodworking and metalworking. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren at his pool.
He is survived by his son, Robert L. Stubbs, of New Ringgold, PA; his daughter-in-law, Patricia M. "Trish" Stubbs, of Sellersville, PA; four grandchildren, Jenny Ferry and her husband Christopher, Amy Hunter and her husband Ethan, Sally Butz and her husband Justin, and Abby Stubbs; and six grandchildren, LCpl David Ferry USMC, Sarah Ferry, Connor Hunter, Levi Hunter, Kyrie Butz and Kyler Butz. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James P. Stubbs, in 2023, and his brother, Paul Stubbs.
His Graveside Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family in St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery, Sellersville, PA.
Arrangements are by the Suess-Gahman Funeral Home & Crematory, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, PA.
