Dennis Glenn
High
March 18, 1943 – November 20, 2024
Dennis High, formerly of Perkasie, PA was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.
Dennis, known as "Pop", "Pop Pop", or "Denny" was born March 18, 1943 in Quakertown, PA, to the late Edward High and Dorothy (Hafler) High.
After graduating from Pennridge High School in 1961, Dennis served honorably in the U.S. Navy as a 3rd class Radioman on the USS Skate 578 submarine from 1961-1965. Following his time in the Navy he served four years as a Pennsylvania State Trooper in Tunkhannock, PA.
Dennis married his beloved Susan Small High on December 28, 1968, and they established their family in Perkasie, PA, the town that he loved so dearly. There they raised their three children: Kevin, Steven, and Karen, watched each of them get married, and later enjoyed loving their seven grandchildren while living at 512 Arch St.
Dennis worked 35 years for Merck Pharmaceuticals, West Point, PA, before his retirement.
He was a longtime member of Calvary Church of Souderton where he developed wonderful relationships with many beloved friends and where he served as a youth leader, usher, choir member, count team member, and was part of the Berachah Sunday School class. He also served on several short term missions teams through Calvary, serving in places such as Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Ecuador.
Dennis sang bass as a member of Zion Choral Society for many years. He was also a lifetime member of the Perkasie Fire Company where he volunteered as long as he was physically able.
He volunteered for over 30 years with the "Chain Gang" at the Pennridge High School Football games. An avid bowler, he belonged to several bowling leagues over the years. He also loved going on family camping trips as well as watching stock car racing.
Dennis was preceded to glory by his parents, the late Edward G. and Dorothy (Hafler) High, as well as his step-mother Priscilla High, his brothers Donald High, Philip High, and his grandson Ryan Scott High.
Dennis is survived by his wife of nearly 56 years, Susan Small High; children: Kevin Scott High and his wife Kerry of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, Steven Edward High and his wife Tricia of Quakertown, PA, and Karen Yerk of Perkasie, PA; grandchildren: Kelly, Micah, Zachary, Josiah, Jack, Ben; and sisters Patricia High of Perkasie, and Marlene Schempp and her husband Michael of Perkasie.
Through faith, Dennis trusted in the saving work of Jesus Christ on the cross and sought to love and serve others with the strength and resources that God gave him as a way to reflect the love that God had shown him through Jesus. Having been united with Jesus in his death, Dennis is also united with Christ in his resurrection and is now whole and at peace and joy in every way. It would be his desire and the desire of the family for each of you to know the love of Jesus as well and to have a relationship with Jesus that would begin on this earth and continue through eternity.
