Obituary

David B. Leister, of Perkasie, PA, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2021, at his home.  He was 87.

He was the husband of 53 years of the late Irene M. (Schreiner) Leister until her passing on April 23, 2007.

Born in Perkasie, he was the son of the late Robert Dewey and Eva K. (Harr) Leister.  He attended Sell-Perk High School, Perkasie.

Mr. Leister was a U. S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War, serving proudly from 1950 to 1954 and having been stationed in Saudi Arabia during his tour of duty.

He was a self-employed auto mechanic, servicing automobiles and fleet trucks for over 50 years.  Then, he worked for a number of years at the Parkway Drive-In, Haycock, PA.  Most recently, he was employed by K & A Sewer Line Imaging, Perkasie, for several years until retiring in 2010.

Mr. Leister was a member of St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, Perkasie.

A former member of the Loyal Order of Moose No. 1539, Sellersville, PA, he enjoyed fixing engines and cars, cooking and tending to his yard.  Most of all, he loved playing with his grandchildren.

He is survived by three daughters, Kathleen P. McKenna and her husband Laurence M., of Wayne, PA, Linda M. Flaherty and her companion Richard Wile, of Perkasie, PA, and Brenda J. Grim and her husband Harry III, of Quakertown, PA; a son-in-law, Jeffrey Landes, of Perkasie; 11 grandchildren, Tim, Colleen, Shaun, Shane, Shawn Patrick, Heather, Harry IV, Emily, Matt, Cory and Brent; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, John Leister and his wife Fay, of Idaho; and a sister, Patricia Madara, of Sellersville.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Eileen M. Landes, in 2012; a son-in-law, John Flaherty, in 1992; two brothers, Richard and Robert Leister; and a sister, May Leister.

His Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 1, 2021, at the Bernard Suess Funeral Home, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, where family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.  Interment with military honors will follow in St. Stephen's United Church of Christ Cemetery, Perkasie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA  19106.
