David K.
Barndt
September 25, 1951 – July 29, 2024
David K. Barndt, of Pennsburg, PA, was called home by his lord and savior on Monday, July 29, 2024 after a brief hospitalization. He was 72 years of age. With his passing, he is reunited with the love of his life, Nancy (Rice) Barndt, who preceded him in death after sharing 50 wonderful years of marriage.
Born in Sellersville, PA, Dave was the youngest son of the late Luther and Mildred (Fluck) Barndt. He was a long-time member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Telford, where he previously served as Chairman of the Stewardship Committee.
Dave was a graduate of Souderton High School where he ran track and played trumpet in the marching band. While in high school, he also proudly earned the rank of Eagle in the Boy Scouts of America. It was in marching band where Nancy caught his eye, and after dating for a few years, they were married on March 25, 1972.
After high school, Dave enlisted in the United States Army (Specialist Four September 1971-June 1973). He served his tour of duty in Germany, was honorably discharged and returned home with Nancy and son, Ryan, to begin his career and expand his family with the birth of two daughters Lisa and Melissa. While raising his young family and working full time, Dave would take a train into Philadelphia each night to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Temple University. After stints at Music Scene, Princess Furniture, and Kiddie City, among others, Dave found his calling in commercial real estate spending a long and successful career at Equus Capital Partners, Ltd. from which he retired.
An avid traveler, he and Nancy explored many historic, scenic and celebrated locations at home and abroad. When not traveling, Dave cherished spending time in their cabin at Bear Creek Lake near Jim Thorpe, PA. Boating, fishing, hot tubbing, kayaking, target shooting, golf carting, and fireside chatting were all activities he enjoyed sharing with family and friends. A big man with a big heart, Dave was a hero to his family. He and his soulmate, Nancy, left an everlasting impression on their grandchildren.
Dave is survived by his three children, Ryan and his wife Jennifer (Kozel), of Quakertown; Lisa and her husband Craig Rodenberger, of Landisville; and Melissa and her husband George Haines, of Radnor; eight grandchildren, Jacob, Samuel, Aiden, Alyse, Connor, Claire, Penelope and Patrick; a sister, Donna and her husband Tom Bucher; three sisters-law, Gail (Rice) and her husband David Moll, of Telford; Eileen (Rice) and her husband Charles Lee, of Hatfield; and Barbara (Riegel) Rice of Lansdale. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Derry and brother in-law Gary Rice.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 5, 2024, at St. Pauls' Evangelical Lutheran Church, 107 West Lincoln Avenue, Telford, PA.
