Obituary

Daniel Roy Gilbert, of Perkasie, PA, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at his home.  He was 71.

He was the loving husband of Robin Lee (Glassmyer) Gilbert.  The couple had celebrated their 44th Wedding Anniversary on August 2, 2024.

Born in Sellersville, PA, he was the son of the late George Lester and Ethel Lucinda (Cope) Gilbert.  A 1971 graduate of Pennridge High School, Perkasie, he attained his Associate of Arts Degree in Police Administration from Bucks County Community College, Newtown, PA, in 1973.

Dan worked for the Borough of Perkasie for 35 years where he retired as the Public Works Director.  He was instrumental in developing the memorial flag program which posts American flags on streetlamp poles throughout the Borough, and he was involved in rebuilding the Roebling-designed twin bridges in Lenape Park. In 2019, Dan was awarded the Perkasie Fire Company's Business Award for Public Works.

He was an active member of St. Peter's Tohickon United Church of Christ, Perkasie, where he taught Sunday School and served on the Church Consistory as Deacon and Elder including several terms as the Consistory President.

Dan was a former Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop No. 79, Perkasie, and he was very proud that many Scouts attained the rank of "Eagle Scout" under his leadership.  A member of the Pennridge Regional Youth Aid Panel for many years, he also served as a Commissioner on the Perkasie Borough Civil Service Commission.  He loved portraying "Santa Claus" for the Perkasie Borough's 100th Anniversary Celebration and enjoyed continuing in that role for several subsequent years.

In his free time, he loved camping, motorcycle riding, gardening and simple woodworking projects.  Dan especially enjoyed and cherished time spent with family and friends and letting his wife win at Parcheesi.

Surviving with his wife are a stepson, David Lee Caruso, of Denver, CO; a brother, George L Gilbert, of Perkasie; four nephews, Cary Gilbert, Christian Gilbert, Blake Gilbert and Scottie Glassmyer; a niece, Brianna Falencki; six great-nephews, Christopher G. Gilbert, Theo Glassmyer, Weston Glassmyer, Griffin Glassmyer, Brayden Falencki, and Daniel C. Gilbert; and two great-nieces, Erin Gilbert and Macy Gilbert.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edward A. Gilbert, a brother, Rodney Gilbert in infancy; and a nephew, Christopher Gilbert.

His Memorial Services will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, August 15, 2025, at St. Peter's Tohickon United Church of Christ, 1071 Old Bethlehem Road, Perkasie, PA, where family and friends may call from 5:00 to 6:00 PM.  Family and friends are also invited to attend Dan's Life Celebration Luncheon to be held from 2:00 to 6:00 PM on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the Keelersville Club, 2522 Ridge Road, Perkasie, PA.  Those attending the services and/or the luncheon are asked to wear Hawaiian shirts or motorcycle riding attire to honor Dan.  Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
