Claude M. Alderfer, a resident of the Souderton Mennonite Homes, Franconia Twp., PA, and formerly of Sellersville, PA, passed away on Monday, March 22, 2021, at the Home. He was 93.
He was the husband of the late Evelyn Y. (Benner) Alderfer who passed away October 21, 2009.
Born in Bedminster Twp., PA, he was the son of the late Henry W. and Aquilla (Miller) Alderfer.
In his early years, Mr. Alderfer worked as a farmer. Then, he was employed as a bus driver and courier for the Pennridge School District, Perkasie, PA, for over 40 years until retiring.
He was an active member of Deep Run Mennonite Church East, Perkasie.
An avid deep sea fisherman, Mr. Alderfer also enjoyed gardening and playing bingo. He will be remembered as a most welcoming and warm individual, whether it be at church or at the Souderton Mennonite Homes, always greeting others with a smile.
He is survived by a daughter, Pamela Sue Lane and her husband Joe, of Gibsonton, FL; two grandchildren, Kandice Bok, of Gibsonton, FL, and Randy Bok and his wife Kelsey, of Wimauma, FL; six great-grandchildren, Gage, Jayden, Nevaeh, William, Cameron and Levi; and two sisters, Elizabeth Myers and Alice Detweiler, both of Souderton, PA.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Willard Alderfer, and five sisters, Grace Sheetz, Mary Rice, Miriam Detweiler, Pearl Freed, and Florence Alderfer.
His Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 29, 2021, at the Deep Run Mennonite Church East, 350 Kellers Church Road, Perkasie, where a family visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. As an expression of care for others, we ask for you to wear a face covering and social distance. Interment will follow in the adjacent Church Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Deep Run Mennonite Church East, Elders Agape Fund, 350 Kellers Church Road, Perkasie, PA 18944.
Arrangements are by the Bernard Suess Funeral Home, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie.
