Obituary

Catherine Lee "Kitty" Deem, of Sellersville and formerly of New Britain, PA, passed away at her home on Friday, January 6, 2023.  She was 86.

She was the loving wife of Charles Elliot Deem, Jr., who passed away on May 19, 2002.

Born in Sellersville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd "Scoop" and Catherine "Kitty" (Yeakel) Hoagey.  She was a 1954 graduate of Sell-Perk High School, Perkasie, PA.  She went on to earn a Bachelors of Arts Degree in English from Penn State University where she was member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority.

After college, Kitty worked for 2 years at Merck Sharp & Dohme, West Point, PA after which she and her husband started their family and she became a homemaker raising their five children            Kitty loved children.  She volunteered at her mother's kindergarten, Kitty Musical Kindergarten, from 1960 to 1996 and then her daughter's Preschool, the Gingerbread House Preschool, from 1996 to 2022.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lansdale where she volunteered at Vacation Bible School in the toddler/preschool rooms from 1960 to 1975.

Kitty was a big sports fan, Eagles, Phillies and NFL and college football.  She loved attending West Virginia University Mountaineer football games, which is where 4 out of 5 of her children graduated.  She spent many Saturdays tailgating with her children and grandchildren.

She also enjoyed crocheting, gardening and watching sports news on tv.  Kitty loved the beach and enjoyed going on family vacations to Ocean City, NJ and later enjoyed spending time at her home in Sarasota, FL.   Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by five children, Charles E. Deem, III and his wife Stacey, of Franklin, MA, Thomas R. Deem and his wife Laurie, of Scenery Hill, PA, Elizabeth "Betsy" Shaw and her husband Daniel, of Sellersville, PA, David L. Deem and his wife Jennifer, of Doylestown, PA and Jeffrey Deem and his wife Tammy, of Gainesville,  VA; four grandchildren, Patrick, Caroline, Jack and Kayla and a brother, David Hoagey and his wife Julia, of Lancaster, PA.

Services will be Private.
