Obituary

In loving memory of our Mother, Carrie Virginia (nee Kemmerer) Potts, age 96, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Abington Jefferson Hospital, Abington, PA.

Born on August 1, 1927, in Steinsburg, PA, she was the fourth child of the late William Franklin and Anna Marie (Kapun) Kemmerer.

She lived most of her life in Perkasie, PA, and was currently residing in the Community at Rockhill in Sellersville, PA.

She was the devoted and loving mother of Carol A. Tompkins, of Perkasie, Robert P. Ream and his wife Beverly, of Lancaster, PA, William K. Ream, Jr. and his wife Diane, of Lansdale, PA, Cynthia L. Davis and her husband Joseph, of Perkasie, Wendy L. Gilbert, of Souderton, PA, and Wanda J. Saeger, of Quakertown, PA. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by both parents, an infant brother, William Franklin Kemmerer, her two sisters, Anna Mae Felix and Mary Jane Lambert, and three great-grandchildren.  She was raised by her uncle, Frank E. Kemmerer, and her aunt, Carrie V. Kemmerer, when both of her parents died five weeks apart in 1936 when Carrie was only nine-years-old.

She worked as an assembler for AMETEK, INC., U. S. Gauge Division, Sellersville, PA, for over 20 years until retiring.  Following her retirement there, she was employed as a food demo for Landis Markets.

Our mother was a loving, kind, caring and giving person who always put the needs of others before herself.  Carrie was a strong woman who faced many challenges in her life and did so with courage and strength of character.  Our mother was a source of inspiration to us all, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.  Everyone who met her loved her….she was everyone's Nana.  Many of her grandkids' friends even called her Nana.

Growing up Mom/Nana was always there for us.  Mom was a woman of strong faith and loved her church and instilled in us the importance of family, hard work and doing what is right.  Our mother was a true role model who we will always look up to.  No one could have been a better mother or nana.

Mom/Nana loved her frequent Family Nights which included not only family but many friends as well.  She loved cooking (everything with brown butter especially boova shenkels) and was famous for her delicious apple pies.  She loved crocheting blankets for her grandchildren and playing cards and would proudly boast when she beat her grandkids at Rummy despite being almost blind.

Her Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Trinity Great Swamp United Church of Christ, 9150 Spinnerstown Road, Spinnerstown, PA, where family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.  Interment will follow in the Trinity Great Swamp Cemetery.  (Please allow extra travel time to the Church due to high traffic volume accessing the Christmas tree farm in the area.)

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Great Swamp United Church of Christ, P. O. Box 494, Spinnerstown, PA  18968 or www.tgsucc.org/giving

Arrangements are by the Suess-Gahman Funeral Home, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie.

Mom, you will always be in our hearts, and we will never forget you and thank you for all you have given us.  We love you so much.  Rest in peace.
