Carolyn Irene Eckert, formerly of Quakertown, PA, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at St. Luke's Hospital Upper Bucks Campus, Quakertown, PA. She was 85.
She was the loving wife of Sterling M. Eckert. The couple had celebrated their 62nd Wedding Anniversary on August 25, 2024.
Born in Sharpsville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Reverend Alvin J. and Augusta (Schlingman) Forry. A 1956 graduate of Quakertown High School, Quakertown, she attained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from Ursinus College, Collegeville, PA.
A homemaker most of her life, Mrs. Eckert worked as a chemist for five years for the Kawecki-Berylco Alloy Co., West Lawn, PA, until 1965 when she left the profession to raise her family.
Mrs. Eckert was an active member of St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perkasie (Kellers Church), PA, where she served as the Financial Secretary for 20 years. A 30-year member of the Church Choir, she also served for many years as the Superintendent of Bible School for the church.
In addition to her love for singing, she was an avid gardener who enjoyed tending to her flower gardens and canning vegetables and fruits. Mrs. Eckert was talented in sewing, especially clothing for her sons, and she was fond of "couponing" and "coupon code tracking". She will also be remembered for the delicious Christmas cookies that she baked.
She is survived by two sons, Sterling Mark Eckert, II, and his wife Kelly, of Lansdale, PA, and Dr. Daniel Stephen Eckert and his wife Jennifer, of York, PA; ten grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, Molly, Grace, Jason, Noah, Jevin, Jayla, James and George; and a sister, Patricia Hollenbach, of Perkasie, PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Forry.
Her Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 17, 2025, at St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3668 Ridge Road, Perkasie (Kellers Church), PA, where family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Kellers Church Cemetery, Perkasie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3668 Ridge Road, Perkasie, PA 18944.
Arrangements are by the Suess-Gahman Funeral Home & Crematory, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, PA.
