Obituary

Cara Maria Schoenmeier - of Perkasie, PA, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2023 surrounded by loved ones at the age of 59 after courageously battling ovarian cancer.

She was the beloved wife of Robert Kent Schoenmeier - the couple celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary on September 8, 2022.

Born in Abington, PA, Cara was the daughter of Paul Allen and Carolyn May Rodriguez - of Quakertown, PA. She was a 1982 graduate of William Tennent High School. She earned her Bachelor's degree in early education from Trenton State College in 1986 and later received her Master's degree in special education from Holy Family University in 2011.

Cara was a special education teacher with the Bucks County Intermediate Unit at Sellersville Elementary School in the Pennridge School District. Previously, she worked at Guth Elementary School. Cara taught children for more than 20 years. She was a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association and the National Education Association.

Cara will be remembered for her hard-working and caring nature as well as her passion for working with children, especially those with special needs or those who were underprivileged. Cara was praised by the IU for her dedication to improving the lives of her students and for "going above and beyond as an advocate".

Cara was a member of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hilltown. Her faith remained strong since her diagnosis three years ago. Cara never let her illness interfere with her passion for life. Her strength, stoicism and generous spirit were admired by all who knew her.

Cara loved spending time outdoors. She enjoyed tending to her flowers, going on walks, taking bicycle rides, and exploring nature - particularly in the Poconos and at the beach. You could find Cara in a well fashioned outfit gleefully dancing to the beat of her own drum and laughing with friends on long weekend road trips. Her greatest pride and joy were her two children - Laura and Blake Schoenmeier. Together they shared continuous laughter, candid conversation, and an admiration for the little things in life.

In addition to her husband, parents, and children - Cara is survived by her four brothers, Carl Michael, Keith Rodriguez, Kim Rodriguez, and Kirk Rodriguez, and two sisters, Karen Rodriguez and Cathy Nash.

Her Memorial Service will be held May 12th at Poppa Joe's Grove - 2 N. Main St. Rear Sellersville, PA. Services will begin at 4PM until dusk.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance - www.ocrahope.org or to Unite For Her - www.uniteforher.org .
