January 2, 1936 – March 5, 2025
Beverly A. (Roth) Derstine, 89, of Souderton, was ushered into heaven on March 5, 2025 at the Souderton Mennonite Homes.
She grew up in Hatfield, Pa and was the daughter of Hillard and Naomi (Nyce) Roth, and graduated from Hatfield High School, class of 1953.
Upon graduation she married her high school sweetheart John "Johnny" Delp, and moved to upstate Pennsylvania and became a farmer's wife. Word has it that their tractors of choice were John Deere's. Upon the passing of her first husband, she returned to the area to care for her aging parents, being an only child, it fell on her shoulders.
It was at this time that she met Wilmer Derstine who had just lost his wife to cancer. They spent many years traveling, trips to Lancaster and upstate Pennsylvania to see family were a highlight, and being a part of family gatherings. She was an avid reader including her daily devotions, walking, volunteering at the home, especially the library, meals on wheels, playing cards games with friends and an active member of the Souderton Mennonite Home Church. She loved her Phillies too.
She is survived by three stepsons: Terry L. Derstine (Wanda ) of Harleysville, Pa, W. Dale Derstine (Martha) of Euless Tx, and Rodney Derstine (Tracy) of Coopersburg, Pa; nine granddaughters: Cara (Trent), Amber (Marlon), Regan (Jeremy), Shelly (Nick), Kim, Corie (Gray), Lauren (Mark), Lindsey (Matt), & Jessica (Chris); grandsons: Christopher and Jeremy; twenty great grandchildren: Cate, Ella, Ian, Kem, Felicity, Brittany, Tobie, Taylor, Riley, Kolbie, Mason, Brayden, Gavin, Becca, Kiele, Briana, Patrick, Jacqueline, Liam, Kennedy, Collins, and Grace, and one great-great grandson: Greyson.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter Kathryn Delp Wells, her husbands John Delp, and Wilmer S. Derstine.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 5 at 1:00 PM in the Summit View Auditorium at Souderton Mennonite Homes, 207 W. Summit Street, Souderton, PA 18964.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Beverly's honor to the AGAPE Fund at the Souderton Mennonite Homes, 207 W. Summit Street, Souderton, PA 18964.
Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are by the Sadler-Suess Funeral Home, 33 North Main Street, Telford, PA.
