Beatrice C. "Bea" Swope, of Perkasie, PA, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2025, at St. Luke's Grand View Hospital, Sellersville, PA. She was 85.
She was the loving wife of William C. Swope. The couple had celebrated their 64th Wedding Anniversary on May 13, 2025.
Born in Norristown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Markley H. and Miriam (Kolb) Clemmer. A 1958 graduate of Christopher Dock Mennonite High School, Lansdale, PA, she attended Eastern Mennonite University, Harrisonburg, VA.
Having attained her brokerage and insurance license, Bea worked in banking for Wachovia Bank and later Wells Fargo Bank, Telford, PA, for a combined 25 years until retiring in 2006.
A member of Lakeview Mennonite Church, Susquehanna, PA, she was a former member of the First Mennonite Church, Norristown, PA, where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.
An avid gardener and reader, Bea was known to be a talented cook. In addition to fishing and hunting, she loved boating on the entire East Coast from Lake Ontario to Florida.
Surviving with her husband are three children, Sandra K. Mellas and her husband Mark, of Tunkhannock, PA, William E. Swope and his wife Susan, of Quakertown, PA, and Charles E. Swope and his wife Lisa, of Center Valley, PA; three grandchildren, Thomas C. Swope, Victoria Swope and Katlyn Swope; and two sisters, Ruby Whitmer, of Lancaster, PA, and Janet Tweed and her husband Robert, of Toms River, NJ. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by five siblings, John M. Clemmer, Rachel Kauffman, James M. Clemmer, Charles Clemmer and Ella Mae Clemmer.
Her Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at the Suess-Gahman Funeral Home & Crematory, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, PA, where family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lakeview Mennonite Church, 1323 Lakeview Road, Susquehanna, PA 18847.
