Aston C. "Ash" Smith, of Perkasie, PA, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2024, at his home.  He was 97.

He was the loving husband of 73 years of the late Marie (Keating) Smith until her passing on May 29, 2023.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Norman and Leah (Hankele) Smith.  He was a 1946 graduate of Roxborough High School, Philadelphia. He attended Delaware Valley College, Doylestown, PA.

A proud World War II Veteran, Mr. Smith first served with the U. S. Navy and then transferred his service to the U. S. Coast Guard.

Mr. Smith worked as a telephone lineman for Verizon, Buckingham, PA, for over 40 years until retiring in 1990.

He was a member of Renew Bible Church, Perkasie, PA, where he taught Sunday School and served as an Usher.

Mr. Smith volunteered for many years with the U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.  A talented woodworker, he belonged to several area woodcarving clubs.  He was an outdoors enthusiast with a special interest in sailing, canoeing, fishing and bird watching.

He is survived by a daughter, Janet Smith, of Perkasie; and his grand dog, Hope, who he loved to spoil.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David Smith; a brother, Norman Smith; and a sister, Dorothy Lindley.

Family and friends are invited to attend his Graveside Services with Military Honors to be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 1, 2024, at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, 1169 Limekiln Pike Ambler, PA.
