Obituary

Albert J. Berner, of Sellersville, PA, passed away Friday, October 7, 2022, at Pennsburg Manor, Pennsburg, PA. He was 94.

He was the loving husband of Elaine (Althouse) Berner.  The couple had celebrated their 72 nd Wedding Anniversary on September 16, 2022.

Born in Sellersville, he was the son of the late Albert H. and Helen (Slevenski) Berner.  He was a 1946 graduate of Sell-Perk High School, Perkasie, PA.

A proud Veteran, he served two tours of duty with the U. S. Army, first from September 1946 to January 1948 stationed in Japan and Korea during World War II and then from October 1950 to October 1951 stationed in Korea during the Korean War.

Mr. Berner was employed as a burnisher and machinist by AMETEK, INC., U. S. Gauge Division, Sellersville, PA, for over 40 years until retiring in 1990.  Then, he worked part-time as a funeral assistant for the Bernard Suess Funeral Home, Perkasie, for many years until retiring there in 2010.

He was a member of St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, Perkasie.

A member of the Loyal Order of Moose No. 1539, Sellersville, Mr. Berner was a former member of the Hartzell-Crouthamel American Legion Post No. 280, Perkasie, the V.F.W. Forrest Lodge No. 245, Sellersville, as well as the Sellersville Lions Club.  An avid hunter and fisherman, he also enjoyed bowling.

Surviving with his wife are three sons, Steven G. Berner and his wife Carol, of Barto, PA, David A. Berner and his wife Sindy, of Coopersburg, PA, and Thomas J. Berner, of Bird Creek, AK; five grandchildren, Chad Berner, Joshua Berner and his wife Denise, Kristy Baughman and her husband Mark, Logan Berner and Austin Berner; and a great-grandchild, Caeden Baughman.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Pearl Kile.

His Funeral Services with interment in St. Stephen's United Church of Christ Cemetery, Perkasie, will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
