Arrangements continued

At the conference, legal lissues, vital statistic information that is needed to complete the death certificate, legal authorizations (see the form below the specific info), and newspaper notices will be discussed and obituary information will be gathered. The specific ceremony will be discussed and planned – whether it is a viewing, funeral service and burial, direct cremation without any service, or something in between. The day, time, place, participants, etc. will also be determined. Merchandise will be selected: casket, urn, vault, memorial folders, register book, and other items that you may want to purchase will be discussed – items such as flowers, luncheons and monuments.

One of the first decisions that will be made is whether or not there will be a viewing of the remains involved in the funeral ceremonies. This is not to "coerce" you into a viewing. State law allows remains to be viewed within 24 hours of death without the need for embalming. After 24 hours any viewing would require embalming to be done. This is the starting point of our work, and is something that should be done as soon as possible. Every other decision can be made after this.

if you would like, you can print and fill out the attached form and bring it with you. Regardless of your arrangements or funeral choices this information is required for the death certificate and other legal documents. back
